Kia ora, my name's George Henderson-Walshe and I'm a PhD student at the University of Bologna working on the project Chow Rings of Toric Arrangements.
My masters thesis was in the areas of toric geometry and algebraic K-theory, and was supervised by professor Christian Haesemeyer. You can read the paper we wrote from it, or read the talk notes I gave at AustMS 2025 here. I proved that for a toric variety \(X\), the algebraic homotopy invariance of the algebraic \(K\)-theory groups \(K_1\) and \(K_2\) over \(X\) is equivalent to the smoothness of \(X\).
I did my undergrad at the University of Canterbury, in my home time of Ĺtautahi, New-Zealand. I did two research projects, one with Dr. Brendan Creutz to establish some bounds on diophantine-stable curves and to learn about the Weil conjectures. The other was to write a paper using group theory to enumerate a type of origami called polypolhedra, with Drs Phil Wilson, Jeanette McLeod, and Michael Langton.
In the break between my masters and PhD, I have been back in Aotearoa doing some study, volunteering, and projects. One of these projects has been a paper on Markov embeddability with Philipp Wacker and Rua Murrary, soon to be submitted.
I'm hoping to use this website to post coding, creative, and mathematical projects.
